Nu-To-Yu is Pender Island’s community thrift store. It is a place for bargains, hidden treasures and everyday essentials. Run entirely by volunteers, every purchase helps fund local healthcare, bursaries and community projects. Since 1983, we have raised more than $1.5 million to give back to our island.

Back in 1983, a small group of neighbours on Pender Island had an idea. They wanted to raise funds to help build and equip the new Pender Island Health Centre. Starting out with a few car boot sales, the idea quickly grew legs and they rented the defunct Cash and Carry store above Medicine Beach and filled it with donated clothes, dishes, books, and toys. In September 1985, the store moved to it’s present location at the Auchterlonie Centre.
