Donation days continue to be Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9am to 12pm (only). As spring has sprung acceptance of winter outerwear, Christmas and Halloween decorations donations will begin again in September. We are currently accepting Easter decorations.
The Nu-To-Yu will be open all 5 Fridays in March from 10am to 4pm. Customers are still required to wear a facial mask so pop one into your pocket before you leave home. The store is small and the turn out is frequently large when the store first opens. We limit the number of customers in the upstairs area to 15 people at a time, with 15 minutes of shopping time (upstairs only), when there is a line up outside the store. Be courteous, be friendly and feel free to line up again if your browsing time was inadequate.
Our next Saturday opening is April 8 of the Easter long weekend.
If you have a larger item, furniture perhaps, that you wish to donate please phone the store before loading it into your car or truck. The phone is answered Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 9am and 12pm, 250-629-2070. Not all large items will fit into our furniture shed and sometimes there is just no room for additional items so it is best to phone ahead.
Three years ago the Nu-To-Yu was open Friday and Saturday year round. If you wish to this to happen again then sign up to be a seller. The commitment is 6 hours a month which is two shifts. It is not enough to like the idea of a community thrift store, one needs to participate in the action. Saturday openings can only happen if we have bodies….young, old, wrinkled, crepey, filled or botox enhanced, we will take you as you are as long as you have a heart beat, a smile and a Nu-To-Yu attitude.
